The owner-operator file
The owner-operator file is the one we see most. You have a contract or a dedicated lane, you need the tractor to service it, and the tractor's revenue is what repays the financing. Lenders read these files on the strength of the work: a signed carrier agreement, a lane with known revenue, or a history of loads carries real weight alongside the credit bureau. First-time buyers coming out of company driving are financeable; the file just needs to show the work is there. Established fleets adding or replacing units run through the same process with fleet financials doing the talking.
How used tractors are underwritten
Used tractors dominate this market and we finance them accordingly. Underwriting looks at model year, engine hours and mileage, ECM data where available, and the maintenance file. An inframe or recent major service documented on paper materially helps the advance. We finance dealer purchases and private sales, and on private sales we handle the lien search and payout of any existing security so you take the unit clean.
Lease structures on a highway tractor
Structure options match the rest of our transportation lineup: a $1-buyout lease for ownership and capital cost allowance, or an operating lease with deductible payments and a return at term — a $1 buyout when you intend to keep the truck. Because tractor revenue can swing with freight cycles, flexible payments matched to your cash flow are part of the conversation, not an afterthought. Cross-border operators should note our U.S. dollar and cross-border programs, which fit tractors running international lanes.
How the application works
The application is three steps: identification, owner information, then the unit with VIN and spec. Most single-tractor files above the $250,000 threshold include financial statements, which is normal for late-model sleepers. On approval the seller is paid directly, security registers under PPSA or RDPRM, and you are dispatched, not parked. Trailers are financed separately on our trailer financing page, or together with the tractor in one file if you are buying the combination. Compare this against commercial truck financing for straight trucks; the underwriting differs and so does what we can do for you. One application prices both lease structures.
